چکیده

conclusions with the increase in interventional procedures in cardiology, iatrogenic pathology of the aorta is seen more frequently, and every cardiologist should know how to diagnose and treat this group of diseases. evidence acquisition our search strategy involved an investigation in the pubmed database for every available article in peer reviewed journals between 1975 and 2015, for subjects related to iatrogenic pathology of the aortic artery, following interventional procedures in cardiology (coronary angiography or angioplasty, trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (tavi) or intra-aortic balloon pump (iabp) counterpulsation placement). results iatrogenic pathology of the aorta is a rare, but potentially lethal complication of invasive vascular techniques. the development of these complications should be considered in cases of unexplained hypotension, acidosis or lower limb ischemia after catheter-based interventions. with increased experience, most of the vascular complications associated with the transfemoral approach may be managed percutaneously. context in this review, we tried to evaluate the incidence, prognosis and treatment options in patients with iatrogenic pathology of the aortic artery due to interventional procedures in cardiology.

Patient Radiation Doses in Interventional Cardiology Procedures

Interventional cardiology procedures result in substantial patient radiation doses due to prolonged fluoroscopy time and radiographic exposure. The procedures that are most frequently performed are coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions, diagnostic electrophysiology studies and radiofrequency catheter ablation. Patient radiation dose in these procedures can be assessed either...

1 Patient doses in interventional cardiology procedures

In most countries of European Union legislation requires the determination of the total skin dose to patient resulting from interventional procedures to assess the risk of deterministic effect. To this end, various dose indicators like dose area product (DAP), cumulative dose (CD) and entrance dose at the patient plane (EFD) are used in clinical practice. The study aims at relating those dose i...

Role, risk and benefit of interventional cardiology procedures during pregnancy

2014 Pregnancy is associated with significant hemodynamic, tissue and hematic changes in the maternal cardiovascular system, which could result in worsening some previously asymptomatic cardiac conditions. Since the last 30 years, new techniques and devices have been introduced in the field of structural and coronary heart disease. In this review, we describe the balance between the risk and be...

Patient radiation doses in paediatric interventional cardiology procedures: a review.

A large number of investigations into the radiation doses from x-ray guided interventional cardiology procedures in children have been carried out in recent years. A review was conducted of these studies, gathering data on kerma area product (P KA), fluoroscopic screening time (FT), air kerma, and estimates of effective dose and organ doses. The majority of studies focus on P KA and FT with no ...

Interventional Cardiology

Percutaneous cardiac interventions were introduced in the 1960s, and, with the introduction of percutaneous coronary interventions by Gruentzig in 1978, the field has had an astounding growth. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the most commonly preformed revascularization technique in the United States today with an estimated 492 000 procedures done in 2010 (Figure 1). This exceeds th...

Interventional cardiology.

Minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures have revolutionized the treatment of cardiovascular disease, and transcatheter interventions are becoming more commonplace in veterinary medicine. Transcatheter procedures allow for treatment of several cardiac defects without the attendant morbidity and mortality associated with thoracic surgery. Interventional procedures are available for treatmen...
